Home Holiday Prep: Bathrooms

Posted on December 3, 2015 in Bathtub Installation

The holidays are coming up, and if you’re entertaining your friends and family, you’ll want your home to be in its best shape possible. At P.J. Fitzpatrick, we can help you do that. We’ll be posting a “Home Holiday Prep” blog each week for six weeks, and each one will focus on how to make an area of your home look great for your upcoming party or gathering.

If there’s one room in your home you know your guests will see, it’s your bathroom, and having an up-to-date bathroom can make a big difference. It’s also one of the most rewarding home improvement projects you can take on, as an updated bathroom can increase your resale value and can be a good selling point. Even if you’re not ready to make major improvements, little touches never hurt.

Bathrooms are a place of cleanliness, and if your bathtub or shower is old or outdated, it won’t give off a good vibe to friends and family members. In fact, if it’s cracked, stained, grimy, or faded, your guests may not even want to use it. Before you host your holiday gathering, replace your bathtub or shower and it will make a big difference in the way your bathroom looks. And if you’re pressed for time, our bath solutions experts can help you update it in as little as one day. We offer bathtub replacement, shower replacement, and tub-to-shower conversions – all of which feature beautiful, durable, tile that’s stain-resistant, mold-resistant, and long-lasting.

An updated sink can also say a lot about your bathroom – especially because it’s one of the first things you see when you walk in. If your sink is still in good shape but could use a refresh, consider replacing the faucet. Or, you can even paint your sink to give it a face lift. If your sink is beyond saving, consider replacing it with a more modern style or make your sink the focal point of the bathroom with a style that’s completely unique.

Because bathrooms are usually small rooms, it may be difficult to decorate one the way you want. However, there are plenty of ways to make a statement in a small area. Try incorporating bold colors, a stand-out mirror, patterned walls, or unique accents. These ideas can especially work if you don’t want to draw much attention to your bathtub, shower, or sink.

Lighting is another way to add ambiance to a bathroom. If your lighting fixtures are bland or obsolete, opt for something more eye-catching, like sconces, pendant lights, mirror lights, and more. To add a holiday touch, try using festive towels, holiday-scented soap or candles, or even adding touches like ornaments or Christmas lights.
