Ask others.

Ask your friends, family members, and coworkers if they’ve had a good experience with a home improvement company. If they have, they’ll have no problem recommending them to you.

Check the BBB.

The Better Business Bureau keeps track of unresolved complaints based on sales issues, billing issues, warranty issues, and more, so check to see if the company you’d like to use is BBB-accredited and if they have any complaints from customers.

Ask for references.

Don’t be afraid to ask your potential home improvement company for customer references. If they’re a good company, they shouldn’t have a problem giving them to you. You can then call their customers and ask how their experience was.

Make sure they’re licensed and insured.

Make sure the company has the proper license(s) and insurance. If not, you may get low-grade products or services and you’ll also be at risk for paying hefty insurance bills if an accident happens to occur on your property.

Visit their showroom.

Home improvement company showrooms (like ours) are there to show you the types of products that are available. Our windows, doors, siding, and more are available for you to look at and ask questions about so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Get quotes in writing.

If you call the home improvement company to get a quote, make sure you also get one in writing. This way, you’ll not only have their word in print, it’ll be easier to compare quotes between companies.

Note their longevity.

How long has the company been around? If they’re new, they may not have the experience you need or want.
