Siding: Vertical vs. Shingle vs. Horizontal

Siding Installation

At P.J. Fitzpatrick, we know that siding can make a big difference in the way your house looks. That’s why we offer three different styles – vertical, shingle, and horizontal. Each has its own unique appearance and are all available in vinyl.

Vertical Siding

Vertical siding is found mainly on nonresidential buildings, like libraries, barns, schools, etc., so some homeowners feel it’s not as “homey” as horizontal siding. Others, however, prefer the look because it makes their house look taller and draws the eye toward the roof.

Shingle Siding

Many homeowners choose shingle style siding because of its charm and “ruggedness.” Shingles also create shadows and depth that vertical and horizontal siding don’t. We have shingles available in a wide variety of colors, including ones made to look like traditional wood.

Horizontal Siding

Horizontal siding is the most traditional looking of all the siding types. Most homeowners find horizontal siding to be the most aesthetically pleasing, which is why you see about 80% of homes with it.

No matter what style of siding you’re looking for, our siding installation experts can help you decide. Give us a call today!
