It looked so much better in the dark.

I wanted to reach out and thank everyone who helped make our participation in DelawareCAN possible by donating canned goods. Special mention has to be made for our company enforcer, Beth Reeder, who made sure to drum up support for the drive and get those donations in here! We had a great response.

That said, after initially entering into the contest we were brainstorming about what we could possibly build and I remember looking at our Marketing Director Almena Faux-Dugan and we both were saying, “How are we going to do this!”.  Getting the donations in turned out to be the easy part, but deciding what to do with the motley assortment of canned goods was definitely much more difficult than we anticipated.  Our Graphic Designer, David Fithian, was the one that suggested we go with a haunted house theme and we just ran with it from there.  We built the main house out of 14-16oz cans, the garage out of smaller Campbell’s soup cans, the yard out of cereal boxes, and the driveway and walkway out of tuna cans. Once we had that built up we added a some Halloween decorations to really finish it off.

Despite it being a smaller structure than we initially though (we had to pick and choose which canned goods we’d use out of the donations) we’re extremely happy how it came out, and we’ve got our fingers crossed as the judges are still deliberating as to who came out on top in the contest.  We’ll keep you posted.
