On Sunday, August 21, 2011, P.J. Fitzpatrick INC deployed nearly twenty volunteers to clean gutters at the homes of three Delawareans living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Their team of volunteers also performed minor repairs on the homes as needed, at no cost to the home owners. This was an extension of a semi-annual program hosted by the Delaware Chapter of the National MS Society entitled ‘Caring Hands’, in which teams of volunteers assist Delawareans who are living with MS in completing household chores.
“So often, for those living with multiple sclerosis, it becomes a burden to keep up with household chores and maintenance. The volunteers at P.J. Fitzpatrick truly helped to lighten that load for these three homeowners,” said Kate Cowperthwait, Chapter President. “We are hopeful that their generosity will inspire other businesses to join with us to develop similar partnerships as we work to serve the needs of the 1,550 Delawareans currently living with this unpredictable disease.”
“We were so pleased to be able to partner with the MS Society for both the Facebook promotion and Gutter Cleaning Day,” said Rick Stover, President of PJ Fitzpatrick INC. “Our companies roots are here in Delaware and it is very important for us to give back to our local community, particularly through non-profits like this one who do such significant work. We have found supporters and individuals involved with the MS Society to be very dedicated to their cause of creating a world free from MS, and we look forward to working with them again in the near future.”
Additionally, P.J. Fitzpatrick INC donated $400 to the Delaware Chapter from an online partnership that took place through the month of July, in which the company agreed to donate $1 to the MS Society for every new fan they gained on their Facebook page.
