The website boasts more than five million consumer reviews and is used by more than 30 million homeowners as a reliable source for discovering a trustworthy company.

HomeAdvisor works to match each of its users to the appropriate establishment by asking a variety of questions about your upcoming project and its location. Once you’ve been paired with the right company, your information will be sent to that company and you’ll be contacted shortly. After the project is completed, HomeAdvisor encourages you to review the company and its workmanship for others to consider.

It has come to our attention that we have had customers comment on our less-than-stellar Yelp reviews. Before you take these reviews to heart, it’s important to know how Yelp works:

When people post a review to Yelp, the review goes through an algorithm to determine whether or not it shows up in the recommended section. Yelp will not disclose this algorithm and instead, they only state things such as how often the customer uses Yelp, whether or not they post pictures, and whether they “check in” to the company they are reviewing (unfortunately our customers can’t check in, as we come to their home).

As of 9/16/2016, we have a total of 31 “recommended” reviews and 112 that fall into the “not recommended” category. When you factor all Yelp reviews in, our star rating is in fact 4.01 out of 5. Yelp calculates the overall star rating using only reviews that their automated software currently recommends and deems the most useful.

One interesting note: We had two 1-star reviews that were listed in the recommended section. We were able to satisfy the customer who subsequently updated their rating to 5 stars. One day later, the reviews dropped from the recommended section to the not recommended section. We cannot gets answers as to why.

Between the five largest review sites, we have a total of 4,570 reviews with an average star rating of 4.66 out of 5. Unfortunately, the 29 reviews we have on Yelp are sometimes what our potential customers first see. If you look at the big picture though, you can see our current customers love us, Yelp’s algorithm just doesn’t.

We want to thank our customers who give us good reviews because we know our people work harder than anyone in the industry to make our customers happy.
