Hardie Shingle Siding

HARDIE® SHINGLE SIDING INSTALLATION

THE LOOK OF CEDAR SHAKE WITHOUT THE UPKEEP

Cedar shake has always been the charming choice and the high-maintenance one. It splits, it warps, it rots at the bottom courses, it feeds woodpeckers and carpenter ants, and it wants staining or sealing on a schedule you’d rather not keep. Hardie® Shingle siding gives you that same textured, cottage-style character in fiber cement—so you get the look without signing up for the upkeep.

PJ Fitzpatrick installs Hardie® Shingle siding across our entire service area, on whole homes and as an accent on gables, dormers, bay windows, and entryways. It’s a natural fit for cape cods, colonials, coastal and shore homes, and craftsman bungalows—anywhere a warmer, more textured exterior belongs. Call 1-877-246-4354 today for a Hardie® Shingle estimate.

Why Choose Hardie Shingle Siding

Hardie® Shingle vs. Real Cedar Shake

  • Won’t Rot:Fiber cement resists the moisture damage that splits and decays cedar.
  • Won’t Warp:Boards stay flat instead of cupping and curling with the seasons.
  • Pest Resistant:Holds no appeal for woodpeckers, termites, or carpenter ants.
  • Noncombustible:Hardie® fiber cement will not burn and complies with ASTM E136.
  • No Staining:ColorPlus® finishes skip the resealing cycle cedar demands.
  • Consistent Look:No streaking or uneven weathering across the wall over time.
  • Faster Install:Panelized courses go up quicker than individual wood shingles.
  • Strong Warranty:Backed by a 30-year non-prorated, limited transferable substrate warranty.

Shingle Profiles and Edge Styles

Hardie® Shingle comes in several forms, and the one you choose sets how formal or rustic the finished wall looks.

Straight Edge Panels come in 48-inch lengths with a uniform bottom edge, installed at up to a 7-inch exposure. The result is orderly and even—a good match for colonials and homes where you want the texture of shake with clean, disciplined lines.

Staggered Edge Panels use the same 48-inch panels but with a varied bottom edge and a 6-inch exposure, so each course breaks up slightly. This is the more rustic, hand-laid look, and it’s what most homeowners picture when they think of cedar shake.

Individual Shingles are available in several widths for smaller areas and detail work, letting us lay up courses piece by piece where a panel wouldn’t fit cleanly or where you want full control over the pattern.

Half-Round Shingles are a decorative profile with a scalloped bottom edge, typically used in gables, on turrets, or as a band accent rather than across an entire wall. On Victorian and shingle-style homes, they’re often the detail that makes the exterior.

Whole Home Hardie Shingle Siding Installations

Whole-Home or Accent Applications

Shingle siding does two very different jobs well. Across an entire home it produces a soft, textured exterior with real cottage character—the classic shore house or shingle-style look. Used as an accent, it becomes a way to add depth to a facade that would otherwise read flat: a shingled gable above lap siding, a shingled bay window, or a band of shingle course beneath a porch roof.

We install Hardie® Shingle in Statement Collection® colors with ColorPlus® Technology, a factory-applied, oven-baked finish that resists fading, chipping, and cracking far better than field-applied stain or paint. It’s also available primed for paint if you have a specific color in mind. Either way, maintenance comes down to an annual rinse with a garden hose and a soft brush—not a ladder, a scraper, and a weekend.

Pairing Shingle with Other Hardie® Profiles

Shingle siding is at its best when it has something to play against. We frequently install it in the gables above Hardie® Plank lap siding, or alongside Hardie® Panel vertical siding on entryways and feature walls. Since every profile is available in the same Statement Collection® colors, the transitions look planned rather than patched.
