Direct answer

Does PJ Fitzpatrick serve Long Island?

Yes. PJ Fitzpatrick serves homeowners across Long Island from a local office at 1000 Prime Place in Hauppauge, in central Suffolk County. Work covers Nassau and Suffolk communities including Levittown, Hicksville, Massapequa, Garden City, Syosset, Port Washington, Smithtown, Commack, Huntington, Bay Shore, Patchogue, Port Jefferson, and Riverhead.

Crews cover Long Island addresses in ZIP codes such as 11788, 11787, 11725, 11743, 11706, 11772, 11756, 11801, 11758, 11530, 11791, and 11901, plus the surrounding Nassau and Suffolk communities.

Long Island is not one housing type. Levittown, Hicksville, and much of central Nassau are postwar Cape Cods and ranches, most of them expanded and remodeled several times since. Western and central Suffolk filled in with high ranches, split-levels, and colonials through the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s. North Shore villages such as Sea Cliff, Northport, and Port Jefferson hold Victorian and older frame houses, and the South Shore canal blocks from Freeport to Lindenhurst live with salt air and storm surge. The work is different on each side of those lines.

Postwar Cape Cods and ranches still define much of central Nassau, most of them expanded well beyond their original four rooms.

PJ Fitzpatrick services for Long Island homes

Every service below is available to Long Island homeowners. Estimates are written after an in-home evaluation. A Cape Cod with a finished attic in Levittown and a canal-front house in Massapequa are not the same job, so the price comes after someone has been on the house.

PJ Fitzpatrick roofing crew installing architectural shingles

Roofing repair & replacement

CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier installations, including architectural shingles. Most full replacements are completed in a day. Repairs cover missing shingles, flashing, wind lift after a nor’easter, and ice dams on Cape Cod roofs over finished attics.

Roofing services
Vinyl siding installation by PJ Fitzpatrick

Siding repair & replacement

Vinyl siding in colors and textures that hold up to salt air on the South Shore and the algae that shows up on shaded North Shore walls. CertainTeed SidingMaster Premier credential. Repairs match existing panels so a storm-damaged elevation does not look patched.

Siding services
Energy-efficient replacement windows

Window replacement

Double-hung, casement, awning, and bay windows in vinyl, wood, and fiberglass. A tighter unit cuts winter drafts and wind-driven rain, and takes the edge off traffic noise near the Long Island Expressway, Sunrise Highway, and the Southern State Parkway.

Window services
Custom entry door installation

Entry, patio & sliding doors

Custom-made, Energy Star entry doors, French doors, and sliding patio doors. A practical upgrade on a high ranch with a tired front entry, and a common request for the back-deck slider on split-levels across both counties.

Door services
Seamless gutter and gutter guard installation

Gutters & gutter protection

Seamless aluminum gutters in more than 30 colors, plus Klean Gutter leaf guards with a no-clog guarantee. Useful under the mature oaks of the North Shore and the pitch pines along the edges of the Pine Barrens.

Gutter services
Walk-in shower and bath remodeling

Tubs, showers & bath remodeling

Tub-to-shower conversions, low-threshold walk-in showers, and custom fixtures. A frequent request in one-bath Cape Cods and ranches, and in family houses that need a safer main bath. Many baths are completed in a day.

Bath services
Repairs Roof, siding, door, gutter, and general exterior repairs that fix the cause, not only the surface. A dedicated repair department handles work other contractors left unfinished.
Blow-in insulation Attic insulation for Long Island houses built before modern levels were common, including Cape Cods whose expansion attics were finished with little room for insulation behind the knee walls. Helps with January wind and July humidity.
Storm & missing-shingle work After a nor’easter or tropical storm on the South Shore, or limbs down across the North Shore, crews inspect, document, and repair so a small opening does not become an interior leak.

A short background on Long Island

Long Island runs about 118 miles east from New York Harbor to Montauk Point. Nassau and Suffolk counties, the part most people mean when they say Long Island, are home to nearly three million people. Before the suburbs there were farm villages, whaling ports, and potato fields, and along the North Shore the Gilded Age estates of the Gold Coast.

Modern Long Island starts in July 1947, when Levitt & Sons broke ground on former potato farms near Hempstead in a place called Island Trees. By 1951 Levittown held 17,447 houses, first four-room Cape Cods with unfinished attics and then ranches with expansion attics, built on concrete slabs with no basements. Most have been expanded and remodeled so many times that the original house is hard to see. Within two decades, much of Nassau had gone from farmland to suburb.

Building then moved east. Western and central Suffolk filled in with high ranches, split-levels, and center-hall colonials through the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s. A lot of those roofs, windows, and gutters were installed at production grade and are now in a second or third cycle. Attic ventilation and gutter sizing were not always generous, and finished attics in older Capes leave little room for insulation. Those are the houses that most often need a straight answer on repair versus replacement.

Local rules vary block by block. Nassau alone has 64 incorporated villages, many with their own building departments and some with boards of architectural review. Sea Cliff, known for one of Nassau County’s best collections of late Victorian houses, has both an architectural review board and a landmarks commission. Out east, Southampton Village has a historic district on the National Register. A matched repair can often disappear into the existing elevation. A visible change to windows, siding, or trim inside a village with design review may need approval before anything is ordered.

What the local climate does to a house

Long Island’s climate is humid continental with a strong ocean influence. At Long Island MacArthur Airport, precipitation averages roughly 46 inches a year and snowfall runs in the low-to-mid 20s. July afternoons run near 81°F and January nights drop near 21°F. The water keeps extremes in check, but it also brings wind, salt, and moisture to every house within a few miles of the shore, which on an island is most of them.

Coastal storms matter more than the averages. After Superstorm Sandy in October 2012, FEMA counted 95,534 buildings in Nassau and Suffolk that were flooded, damaged, or destroyed. Surge did most of the structural damage on Nassau’s South Shore, where the Town of Hempstead lost more than 1,000 homes, while Suffolk generated nearly twice Nassau’s tree debris. Nor’easters do smaller versions of the same thing every winter, driving rain sideways into flashing, window seals, and siding laps.

Salt air near the bays and ocean shortens the life of exposed fasteners, flashing, and finishes. Algae and moss show up on shaded roofs and siding under North Shore oaks. Ice dams form on the north slopes of Cape Cods with finished attics. Granule loss and ridge vent problems show up together on production roofs from the 1990s and 2000s. Repairs need a contractor who will look at attic airflow, chimney and wall flashing, gutter pitch, and whether the existing siding can be matched before quoting a replacement.

Mature trees shade much of the North Shore, which keeps houses cool and keeps algae, moss, and clogged gutters coming back.

Why Long Island homeowners call PJ Fitzpatrick

A local office in Hauppauge

Long Island work runs through a local office at 1000 Prime Place in Hauppauge, in central Suffolk County. Long Island is a normal service day, not a long-haul exception. Company headquarters remains 21 Industrial Blvd, New Castle, Delaware.

Credentials that mean something on a roof

CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier since 2004, CertainTeed Triple Crown winner, Guildmaster Award, and 2025/2026 Philly Favorites recognition for roofing, windows, and baths.

A written estimate, on the house

An in-home evaluation comes first. Nobody should quote a Long Island roof from a photo alone. If something later goes wrong with the installation, we treat it as our problem, not yours.

Repairs as a real department

Not every Long Island house needs a full replacement. Matching materials and fixing the source of a leak is often the better first move on an otherwise sound home.

Warranties that travel with the house

Lifetime material and workmanship options on qualifying roofing and other systems, including enhanced CertainTeed SureStart PLUS coverage available through Premier contractors.

Making life better one home at a time

That line is on the trucks for a reason. The standard is the same on a Victorian in a North Shore village as it is on a remodeled Cape in Levittown.

Do Nassau and Suffolk require separate contractor licenses?

Yes. Nassau County licenses home improvement contractors through its Office of Consumer Affairs, and Suffolk County through its Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs. A license from one county does not cover work in the other, and some East End towns run their own licensing. Ask any contractor for the license that covers your address.

Can you replace a roof and gutters on the same house?

Yes. Roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters, insulation, repairs, and baths are all in-house services. Combining a roof and gutter project is common after a nor’easter, or when an original roof is coming off a high ranch or split-level.

How do I get an estimate?

Call 1-833-526-2888 or request an estimate online. A representative follows up to schedule an in-home visit. You receive a written estimate after that visit. No one should quote a Long Island roof from a photo alone.
