Home improvement for your Queens house
We install and repair the roof, siding, windows, doors, gutters, and bath on your house, whether you own a brick row in Ridgewood or a detached house in Bayside, Jamaica, or the Rockaways.
Direct answer
Do you serve Queens?
Yes. If you own a home in Queens, we can work on it.
Queens is Queens County, a borough of New York City. It is not the Nassau and Suffolk service area, even though the borough sits on Long Island geographically. If you own a home, the work covers your neighborhood from Astoria, Long Island City, and Jackson Heights through Flushing, Forest Hills, and Bayside to Jamaica, Howard Beach, and the Rockaways.
We were founded in 1980. Our headquarters are at 21 Industrial Blvd, New Castle, Delaware 19720, and our New York office is at 1000 Prime Place, Hauppauge, NY 11788. Call or request a visit, and we write the price after we have been at your house. Your roof is priced from your house, not from a Cape in Levittown or a different block in Ridgewood.
What is actually installed
Services on your Queens house
Every service below is available for your house. The scope follows what you own. A brick house, a frame house, a cooperative, and a beach block do not share one package.
Roofing repair and replacement
CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier installations, including architectural shingles. Most full replacements on your roof finish in a day. That fits a pitched roof if you own a detached house in Bayside, Douglaston, Jamaica Estates, St. Albans, or Queens Village. Repairs cover missing shingles, chimney and wall flashing, and wind lift after a coastal storm.
If your attached brick house in Ridgewood, Glendale, or Maspeth has a low slope roof behind a parapet, we specify that only after we have been on your roof. It is not priced like a colonial shingle package. Roofing services
Siding repair and replacement
A lot of Queens is brick. If your masonry is sound, it does not need a vinyl wrap. Vinyl siding is the usual conversation if you have a frame house in eastern or southeastern Queens, or a cottage in the Rockaways, where sun and salt hit the walls. CertainTeed SidingMaster Premier. When one side of your house is damaged, repairs match your existing panels so it does not look patched. Siding services
Window replacement
If your house is brick, it was probably built with double hung windows. Replacements come in vinyl, wood, and fiberglass, including casement, awning, and bay units. A tighter unit cuts the drafts in your rooms. It also takes the edge off noise from LaGuardia, JFK, the Long Island Rail Road, and elevated lines such as the 7 train through Woodside, Jackson Heights, and Flushing.
If your house is in a Landmarks Preservation Commission district, including parts of Douglaston, Jackson Heights, Sunnyside Gardens, and Addisleigh Park in St. Albans, you often need approval before the window profile changes. Window services
Entry, patio, and sliding doors
Custom made Energy Star entry doors, French doors, and sliding patio doors. On your two family brick house, the street door and the stoop are the whole first impression. On a detached house in southeast Queens, the job is often your tired front entry or a backyard slider. Door services
Gutters and gutter protection
Seamless aluminum gutters in more than 30 colors, plus Klean Gutter leaf guards with a guarantee against clogs. London plane trees and oaks drop seeds, leaves, and pods into open troughs all over the borough. If a downspout on your row house dumps against the foundation, it can send water into your yard. Gutter services
Tubs, showers, and bath remodeling
Conversions from a tub to a shower, walk in showers with a low threshold, and custom fixtures. You may want this if your cape has one bath, or if the only full bath in your two family house is upstairs. Many baths are completed in a day. Bath services
Roof, siding, door, gutter, and other exterior repairs that fix the cause. On your Queens two family house, the job is often parapet flashing, a leak on the top floor, or a patch at the gable end, not a replacement of the whole house.
After a nor’easter or a coastal storm, we inspect your roof and document it so a lifted shingle or a failed flashing does not become a leak inside your home. A bay block takes salt and wind that Fresh Meadows does not.
Across the borough
Queens homes are not all the same
The 2020 Census counted 2,405,464 people in Queens, the largest borough by land area. Eastern Queens is mostly homes. Western Queens mixes those houses with prewar walk up buildings and newer mid rise buildings. If you own a cooperative in Forest Hills or Rego Park, the roof and facade are usually the board’s project, not yours. This page is for you if you control the exterior of your house.

What the city does to a Queens house
| JFK normal | 1991 to 2020 |
|---|---|
| Precipitation | 43.29 inches a year |
| Snowfall | 25.9 inches a year |
| Mean temperature | 54.3°F |
| Mean daily high | 61.6°F |
| Mean daily low | 47.0°F |
Salt air near Jamaica Bay and the Atlantic shortens the life of exposed fasteners, flashing, and finishes. Street trees clog gutters. Wind driven rain finds parapet copings and the heads of old double hung windows. Ice dams are a smaller issue than on an inland Cape with a finished attic, but a shaded north slope in Bayside or Douglaston can still hold snow.
Superstorm Sandy made landfall effects on October 29, 2012. Flooding hit the Rockaway peninsula, Broad Channel, and Howard Beach. A fire in Breezy Point destroyed more than 120 homes. The houses rebuilt after that storm are not the same specification as a 1920s colonial in Jamaica Estates. Tell us what kind of house you own before you compare prices.
Exterior changes inside an LPC historic district can need Landmarks Preservation Commission approval before anything is ordered. Districts in Queens include Douglaston, Jackson Heights, Sunnyside Gardens, and Addisleigh Park. Designation is specific to the block. Check the map for your address.
Licensing is city licensing. The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection licenses home improvement contractors for residential work in New York City. A Nassau or Suffolk license does not replace it. Many roof and structural jobs also need a Department of Buildings permit. Your written estimate should say which filings your address needs.
| House | What you are looking at | What usually decides the job |
|---|---|---|
| Brick row, Ridgewood to Maspeth | Party walls, parapet, stoop, double hung windows. The roof may be low slope behind the cornice. | Windows, doors, parapet flashing, and gutters. Not a colonial shingle package. |
| Tudor or colonial, Forest Hills to Douglaston | Steep pitched roof, brick or stucco, mature trees. Some blocks are landmarked. | Shingle roof, gutter size, shaded slopes, and LPC rules if your house is inside a district. |
| Cape or high ranch, Jamaica to Rosedale | Pitched roof, often frame walls, one or two baths, close to JFK flight paths in places. | Roof replacement, siding on frame walls, windows for noise and drafts, a safer main bath. |
| Raised house, Rockaways and the bay | Salt air, wind, FEMA flood zone. Many houses were rebuilt after Sandy. | Fasteners, sealants, windows, and elevation. An inland quote does not transfer. |
How a Queens job is sold
The number comes after the visit
CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier since 2004, CertainTeed SidingMaster Premier, and a 4.8 Google rating across thousands of reviews are facts about us. They do not tell you what your roof or walls need. Here is how we price the work.
At your house
An evaluation at your house. We do not quote your roof from a photograph. An attached brick house, a colonial, and a beach cottage are different jobs.
In writing
We give you a written estimate after that visit. The scope should say what is being replaced and which city filings the job is expected to need.
One team
Roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters, repairs, and baths are our work, so you do not have to split a roof and gutter plan across two companies.
On the warranty
Lifetime material and workmanship options on qualifying systems, including enhanced CertainTeed SureStart PLUS coverage we can put on the job as a Premier contractor.
Short answers
Questions Queens homeowners ask
Do you serve Queens, NY?
Yes. We install and repair roofs, siding, windows, doors, gutters, and baths for homeowners in Queens, New York City. We were founded in 1980. Our headquarters are at 21 Industrial Blvd, New Castle, Delaware 19720, and our New York office is at 1000 Prime Place, Hauppauge, NY 11788. Queens is a New York City borough, so the visit to your house, the permits, and the work are not the same as work in Nassau or Suffolk.
Which Queens neighborhoods do you cover?
Work commonly includes Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Flushing, Bayside, Whitestone, College Point, Douglaston, Little Neck, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica, Hollis, St. Albans, Queens Village, Laurelton, Rosedale, Ozone Park, Woodhaven, Howard Beach, and the Rockaways from Far Rockaway to Breezy Point. If your neighborhood is not named, call anyway.
What ZIP codes in Queens do you cover?
Examples include 11102 and 11103 (Astoria), 11101 (Long Island City), 11104 (Sunnyside), 11377 (Woodside), 11372 (Jackson Heights), 11385 (Ridgewood and Glendale), 11378 (Maspeth), 11379 (Middle Village), 11375 (Forest Hills), 11361 (Bayside), 11357 (Whitestone), 11354 (Flushing), 11362 (Little Neck and Douglaston), 11432 (Jamaica), 11412 (St. Albans), 11427 (Queens Village), 11422 (Rosedale), 11414 (Howard Beach), 11691 (Far Rockaway), 11694 (Rockaway Park and Belle Harbor), and 11697 (Breezy Point). Coverage is not limited to this list.
Is Queens the same as your Long Island service area?
No. Queens is on Long Island geographically, but it is a borough of New York City, not Nassau County or Suffolk County. Contractor licensing, Department of Buildings permits, landmark rules, and house types are different.
What license covers home improvement in Queens?
New York City licenses home improvement contractors through the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. A Nassau County or Suffolk County license does not authorize work in Queens. Many roof and structural jobs also need a Department of Buildings permit, and houses in a Landmarks Preservation Commission historic district may need a separate approval before windows, siding, or a visible roof detail are ordered. Ask for the NYC license that covers your address, and ask the estimate to name the filings for your block.
Can you roof an attached brick house and a detached colonial on the same kind of quote?
No. Pitched roof shingle replacements, including CertainTeed architectural shingles, are our roofing work, and we complete most full replacements in a day. That matches many detached houses in Bayside, Jamaica Estates, St. Albans, and Queens Village. A row house in Ridgewood, Glendale, or Maspeth may have a low slope roof behind a parapet. If that is your house, we review that assembly on your roof before we treat it like a shingle colonial.
Do you work in the Rockaways and Howard Beach?
Yes. Far Rockaway, Arverne, Rockaway Beach, Rockaway Park, Belle Harbor, Neponsit, Breezy Point, Broad Channel, and Howard Beach are part of the Queens service area. These blocks deal with salt air, wind, and coastal flood zones. Your estimate is written after a visit so fasteners, flashing, and the way your house sits are part of the scope. Superstorm Sandy, on October 29, 2012, flooded this part of the borough, and a fire in Breezy Point destroyed more than 120 homes. Many of those houses were rebuilt to a different standard than an inland colonial.
How do I get a written estimate in Queens?
Call 1 833 526 2888 or request an estimate online. We schedule a visit at your house. You receive a written estimate after that visit, not a price guessed from a photo of your roof. Financing is available for qualifying projects. Cooperative and condo owners should check with the board first. If you own a unit in one of those buildings, the roof, windows, and facade usually belong to the corporation, not to you.
