Some home improvement projects stay with you long after the work is done. This is one of them. Recently, the PJ Fitzpatrick team had the honor of partnering with Make-A-Wish to help grant a very special wish for Caevar, a 12-year-old boy facing a critical illness. His wish wasn’t for a trip or to meet a celebrity. Instead, Caevar wished for something that would bring him comfort, calm, and joy every single day: a walk-in shower.

A Wish Rooted in Comfort and Care

Caevar loves being around water. The sound of running water, the feeling of a shower, and the combination of lights and music bring him peace and happiness. As Brianna, a Complex Care Manager with Make-A-Wish, shared:

“Showers and running water bring Caevar calm and comfort. This walk-in shower will combine so many of the things he enjoys while also meeting an important daily need.”

For Caevar and his family — who adopted him after the loss of his biological mother during the COVID pandemic — this wish is about far more than a bathroom renovation. It’s about making daily care easier, creating a space where Caevar feels safe and relaxed, and giving him something that genuinely improves his quality of life.

Why Wishes Matter

When a child is facing a critical illness, so much of life feels uncertain. Brianna explains that wishes are powerful because they help restore what illness often takes away:

“A wish restores some of that — it brings comfort, joy, and something to look forward to.”

In Caevar’s case, this wish provides not just a moment of happiness, but a lasting impact. It supports his care, brings him comfort through something he loves, and creates joy for his entire family — every single day.

A Partnership Built on Community

This isn’t the first time PJ Fitzpatrick has stepped up for Make-A-Wish. Our relationship began three years ago, when an urgent request went out to the community after another group was unable to complete a wish project. With only a few days’ notice, the PJ Fitzpatrick team dedicated over 12 hours to build a princess playhouse for a wish child. That same spirit of generosity carried through to Caevar’s wish.

“When we learned about Caevar’s wish, it was an easy reminder of the spirit of generosity and community PJ Fitzpatrick embodies,” Brianna shared.

A Wish That Truly Lasts

Many wish kids choose experiences that last a few days or a single moment. Brianna described Caevar’s wish as one of the most special she’s seen in her time with Make-A-Wish, because of its lasting impact.

“This wish isn’t just for a moment — it’s something that will last a lifetime.”

Caevar’s caregivers, Rita and Aaron, shared how meaningful this bath conversion will be, both in easing daily routines and in bringing Caevar comfort through something he truly loves. When reflecting on the impact this wish had on her family, Rita powerfully shared her heart.

“You guys saved our lives, and I’m serious about that because we just bought the house not long ago and there’s a lot of fixing up to do. We’ve wanted to make things comfortable for [Caevar] as far as getting him into a shower and it’s been so tough! But because of you guys, I’m telling you – we’re a new family.”

Moments That Matter Most

For Brianna, one moment stood out above all others:

“Seeing Caevar’s smile, and hearing from Rita about what this wish means to their family, is something I’ll never forget.”

After years of uncertainty, loss, and medical trauma, this day brought joy, comfort, and hope; a reminder of Caevar’s resilience and the power of a wish granted.
