PROFESSIONAL HARDIE SIDING INSTALLATION BY TRAINED FIBER CEMENT EXPERTS
JAMES HARDIE SIDING INSTALLED TO MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS
Fiber cement is only as good as the crew that installs it. James Hardie siding is engineered to protect your home for decades, but it depends on correct fastening, proper clearances, and careful flashing to do its job. At PJ Fitzpatrick, our installers are trained specifically in fiber cement installation, and we install every board to James Hardie’s published specifications—not to whatever is fastest.
We’ve been installing exterior cladding since 1980, and we treat a Hardie siding installation as a complete system: weather barrier, flashing, siding, trim, and sealant all working together. That means the boards on your walls are cut, spaced, fastened, and finished the way the manufacturer intends, so your siding performs the way it was designed to and your warranty coverage stays intact. Hardie Siding Installation Done Right
- Correct Fastening: Nails set flush, never overdriven, at manufacturer-specified spacing.
- Proper Clearances: Required gaps at grade, roofing, and decks so boards never wick water.
- Weather Barrier: A continuous water-resistive barrier behind the siding, lapped and sealed.
- Flashing: Head flashing above windows and doors, plus flashing at joints and transitions.
- Careful Cutting: Scored and cut with the right tooling and dust controls for clean edges.
- Joint Treatment: Butt joints staggered and detailed so seams stay tight and inconspicuous.
- Sealant Detailing: Penetrations, corners, and trim intersections sealed with the right products.
- Finished Trim: HardieTrim® boards at corners, windows, and doors for a complete look.
Our Hardie Siding Installation Process
Every installation starts with a conversation, not a sales pitch. We’ll visit your home to measure, evaluate the condition of your existing walls, and walk you through your style, texture, and color options in person. You’ll get a written estimate that spells out labor, materials, trim, and cleanup before any work is scheduled.
On installation day, your James Hardie siding and HardieTrim® boards arrive at your home so the crew has everything on hand from the start. We remove the existing siding and inspect the sheathing and framing underneath—if we find hidden rot or damage, we’ll show you and address it before anything gets covered up. Next comes the weather-resistant barrier and flashing at every window, door, and corner. Then our crew installs your siding, staggering joints, maintaining required clearances, and fastening each board to spec. We finish with trim and sealant, clean the job site thoroughly.

Full Re-Sides, Additions, and Accent Installations
Not every Hardie siding installation means wrapping an entire house. We install fiber cement on new additions, dormers, garages, and outbuildings, and we regularly use it as an accent—shake & shingle in a gable end, vertical panel on a front entry, or Artisan® profiles on a feature wall—alongside existing siding elsewhere on the home.
If you’re installing Hardie board on part of your home, we’ll help you plan the transitions so the result looks intentional rather than patched together. And because James Hardie products are Engineered for Climate®, the boards we install are formulated for the weather conditions in our region, whether that means freeze-thaw cycles, driving rain, or summer humidity.
Installing New Siding or Replacing Old Siding?
If you’re covering a new addition or adding fiber cement where there wasn’t any before, installation is what you’re after. If you’re tearing off failing vinyl, wood, or aluminum across your whole home, take a look at Hardie board replacement. And if only a handful of boards are damaged, our Hardie board repair team can usually help instead. Not sure which fits your project? Call 1-877-246-4354 or contact us and we’ll take a look.
