It Started In A Parking Lot: Josh and Betty’s Walk-In Shower Story

Josh and Betty’s Walk-In Shower Story

The old fiberglass shower in Josh and Betty’s home was so outdated that they couldn’t even remember when it had originally been installed. Light cracking along the top edges and a clunky traditional shower/tub combo were clear signs that it was time for an update. Not only did the shower feel tight, but at Josh’s height, he never had quite enough room to move.

They wanted a taller and more modern, with a layout that opened up the room and made it easier to navigate day to day. A walk-in shower would also make washing their dogs much easier. “It just works a lot better for our needs,” Betty said, “especially when we’re trying to wash our dogs!”

How Josh and Betty Chose PJ Fitzpatrick For Their Shower Replacement

Betty is a regular warehouse store shopper, finding herself grocery shopping there on most weekends. On one particular trip, a PJ Fitzpatrick sales rep caught her on the way out. While she admitted she’s usually quick to wave those conversations off, this one stuck. She took the pamphlet, had a short chat, and was told someone would follow up. She figured that would be the end of it.

“This was immediate,” Betty recounted. “I’m in the parking lot unloading my cart and someone was already calling me to schedule and kept following up. It was great.”

From there, we hit the ground running. An appointment was set for the following Saturday, and by the Wednesday after, their new shower was installed. Betty hadn’t even mentioned it to Josh until it was already in motion.

“I came home and told my husband this might be happening, and he goes ‘What?’” Betty said.

The entire process had only taken about a week and a half from the point of scheduling to their farewell handshake.

What To Expect On Shower Installation Day

On the day of the install, our crew arrived promptly and wasted no time in prepping Josh and Betty’s home for the demo and install. They laid mats along the floor and walked the couple through what the day would look like before getting started.

Josh noted how the communication stayed steady throughout the day, including a heads-up that the power would need to be disconnected briefly.

By noon, our team was wrapping up, with our lead installer walking them through the shower maintenance guide, covering which cleaning products to use, which to avoid, and how long to wait before using the shower.

As the only one home for the install, Josh appreciated how little disruption it caused. Everything stayed on schedule, and the crew cleared out without leaving a mess behind.

The Result: A More Spacious, Functional Walk-In Shower

For Betty, the difference was immediate.

“It was night and day,” she said. “It looks so much better. I just get excited to walk in there. It’s such a pleasant experience even to look at. It’s beautiful.”

While they had gone into the experience choosing colors and materials, unsure of how it would all come together, they were ultimately thrilled. Seeing how seamlessly the shower matched their floor tiles and accent wall, all doubts were put to rest.

Josh had even done his own detailed inspection, finding that the caulking lines were clean, the flooring was level, and the whole space was functional in a way that their old shower never had been.
