At PJ Fitzpatrick, our mission has always been about more than just home improvement—it’s about improving lives. That’s why, when we learned about the incredible work being done by Veterans Outreach of PA (VOPA), we knew we wanted to be part of their effort to make a real difference for homeless veterans in Harrisburg.
The goal of VOPA’s project is simple yet powerful: to create a small community of tiny homes where veterans experiencing homelessness can find shelter, counseling, and support. The ultimate aim? To help these heroes gain the tools they need to find employment and transition to independent living.
Our involvement started when PJ Fitzpatrick owner Rick Stover, enthusiastically brought the opportunity to our attention, sharing VOPA’s vision of creating a safe and supportive space for veterans. Their request was straightforward but deeply meaningful: donate materials for 15 showers in the tiny homes—and, if possible, help with the installation.
We knew this was a cause worth supporting. Over several months, from late 2022 to mid-2023, we worked closely with VOPA’s team and their project manager to bring the vision to life. Our team also captured footage of the groundbreaking ceremony, which included site walkthroughs, interviews with VOPA’s staff, and drone footage of the future community space.
“This is the largest donation we’ve [as a company] made to date,” Stover proudly noted. By the end of November 2023, PJ Fitzpatrick contributed the funds needed to cover the cost of materials for all 15 showers, ensuring this critical piece of the project could move forward.
PJ Fitzpatrick understands that serving our community with home services like roof replacements, new walk-in showers, windows or doors, provide more than physical comfort. This opportunity allowed us to offer dignity, hope, and a fresh start for those who’ve served our country. We’re proud to have supported the foundation of these tiny homes, where veterans will find the resources they need to rebuild their lives.

At PJ Fitzpatrick, we believe every act of service deserves to be honored—and we’re grateful to have played a small part in helping those who’ve sacrificed so much for us.
